Pipeline Boring (HDD) recommended bottom tangent

Pipeline Boring (HDD) recommended bottom tangent

(OP)
Hi all,

in some pipeline bore section where the distance is not much, is it required/recommended to have a bottom tangent? if so, is there a rule of thumb/minimum length of bottom tangent needed?

Radius of curvature put at 100 x Pipe OD, angle of entry and exit reduced to the minimum, nothing more than 12 degrees. etc. any comment on bottom tangent? especially when you have length limitation.

As much as possible, do it right the first time...

RE: Pipeline Boring (HDD) recommended bottom tangent

No limit AFAIK.

However I think (hope) you've got a digit missing in your radius and 1000 D is what you're aiming for.

Also entry angle of 12 degrees - depends on your pipe OD, but work out how far you need to lift the pipe string with a radius of 1000D to get it into the hole.... Or are you trying to go under something with only a small distance??

Do everyone a favour and draw a cross section, scan it and post it. with diameter, distances, horizontal and vertical and then we can work out what you're trying to do.

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

Should be a number equal to or greater than 0
