Factor of safety for roof screw pull out tests

Factor of safety for roof screw pull out tests

(OP)
hi guys
I would like to know what is the norm to adopt as the factor of safety of roof sheet screw pull out tests ?
Is there a code of practise we can refer to ? I wasn't able to find any under Eurocode.

I would appreciate any one advice.

regards

RE: Factor of safety for roof screw pull out tests

I'm not sure about Eurocode. I practice in Canada - I usually use the allowable loads published by the manufacturer, which are usually based on an ICC report. Typical factor of safety is 3 to 1.

See link below - the footnotes below the tables may be useful to you.

Agree with CANPRO..... 3 to 4 from manufacturer's ultimate load

RE: Factor of safety for roof screw pull out tests

AISI which produces the cold-formed steel design spec used in North America shows an ASD factor of safety of 3.0 for all screw-related limit states including screw pull-out. Resistance factor for US LRFD design conditions is 0.50. Resistance factor for Canadian LSD design conditions is 0.40.
