New component file

New component file

RE: New component file

Search in the "UGII" folder for everything starting with "nxdm".
You'll get all the files organizing the default NX templates.

RE: New component file

No, the "NXDM..." files are for NX together with Teamcenter.
the content will not show when running without Teamcenter.
You want the file "ugs_model_templates.pax".
in the directory ....\NX8.5\UGII\templates
Open the file with Notepad. the syntax is pretty self explanatory.

- The image is a bit strange since ONLY the model and the Ship Structure tabs exists !?!?
There should be tabs for Drawing templates, manufacturing templates, Simulation templates etc etc.

(OP)
Thank you very much Tomas.
that is awesome. It make my job much more easier.

RE: New component file

Tomas,

I mention this only because I don't use templates as well as for ease of updating to new version of NX where the old install directory might be removed. With that said, I'm not sure what you can/cannot do, but...

Is there a variable/default that controls the directory where NX looks for the templates? If so, should the OP consider putting his templates in a different location than the install directory and defining the templates location by editing the variable/default for template location(s)? If that's possible, it might make upgrades/new installs easier to deal with by changing a variable/default than copying/moving or possibly recreating template files every time he upgrades to a new version.

RE: New component file

You are completely correct Tim. I will try to get back to this thread and write a short instruction.

Tomas
