PMP Certification or LEED GA / LEED AP
PMP Certification or LEED GA / LEED AP
(OP)
Hello Everyone,
I am civil engineer and willing to get a good professional accreditation which will be helpful for my professional growth.
From recent trends in our profession i am observing two major accreditation are taking place, which are:
1. PMP Certification
2. LEED GA or LEED AP Accreditation
Now, I am confused to choose a single one which will have a growing demand in coming days. Study and acquiring PMP certification will provide knowledge of organizing project and overall management of a firm and might open a broad area of project management and scopes to work in large construction management works. On the other hand LEED GA will provide me with the knowledge of developing sustainable building system which is somewhat more interesting...
Can one give me any suggestion or share your experience in this regard ???
Thanks in advance.

Right now i am working in a construction firm as a in house design engineer. if i keep working in construction field then PMP might be helpful for getting a higher designation. on the other hand, if i move forward into design field then LEED might be helpful.
and having some letters afetr name is also a minor reason .
:)
Twinkie do you have a opinion in this regard ?

I work on a lot of LEED projects, doing SWM design and E&S, but non of this work is a result of having the credentials. Architects and "sustainability consultants" take all the LEED documentation work. You'll never do that working in an engineering firm.
