Rigid vs. flexible cable support system

Rigid vs. flexible cable support system

Rigid vs. flexible cable support system

(OP)
Selecting the spacing between cable clamps is dedicated by allowable movement space.

BICC Electric Cables Handbook, Chapter 37 describes the calculation procedure.

I wonder, however, in case of well supported system with short supports separation distance, the case looks a bit like directly burying the cable with soil intact around it. No movement is allowed however, the conductor will be subjected to compression and tensile forces. I am not aware of any design standard with referecne to internal cable stresses and I think it is pretty much to do with cable manufacturer.

Do cable manufacturers take into consideration the case of no allowed movement?

RE: Rigid vs. flexible cable support system

I think it is about BICC Electric Cables Handbook CHAPTER 37 Thermomechanical Design.
It is a very interesting study, indeed-as this entire handbook is. However, I am sure the cable manufacturing standards-see: IEC 60502-1 and 2, or UL44 , UL83 , UL1072 or others [BS, HN, VDE, GOST and other] are taken this in consideration.
In my opinion, the installation standards as NEC, IEC 60364, BS 7671 and other considered this in their installation instructions, also.
