Weld overlap at air cooled heat exchanger header box

Weld overlap at air cooled heat exchanger header box

(OP)
Hi guys,
Im a newbie, please be gentle.

Our ACHE vendor has raised a deviation from project spec that they would have to overlap weld between nozzle and header box of the exchanger. I understand for other threads that there are UW-14 that covers weld overlapping. Can this be applied to ACHE header box as well?

Second question, the header plate is 12mm thick. Vendor is proposing to use set-on nozzles, according to our project spec, set on nozzles can be used if thickness is 50mm. Has anybody accepted set-on nozzle irregardless of thickness or due to any valid reasoning?

Thanks guys,
Idrus.
