Fatigue check in riveted joint
Fatigue check in riveted joint
(OP)
Hi,
Im trying to verify a union for a steel railway bridge concerning a transverse beam connected to the principal truss beam.
According to the AREA code I obtained a limiting stress of 6 ksi for fatigue check. My question is if that means that
for instance when verifying the rivet for shear I have to calculate Sr (shear range for the dead load + train load) and compare
that to the limiting 6 ksi, and if greater then the union does not verify, am I correct?
