Flexural reinforcement for slab on grade

Flexural reinforcement for slab on grade

Flexural reinforcement for slab on grade

(OP)
I am designing SOG (slab on grade) using ACI 360-10.

I found that reinforcement is only considered for shrinkage in ACI 360-10.

How to consider wire mesh or steel reinforcement for checking flexural calculation of SOG?

RE: Flexural reinforcement for slab on grade

As far as i know, u have different choices
1 - either u design your slab as it will remain uncracked due to loads on its surface. You need to have control joints and slab should disconnected from rigid elements (ground beam, column, wall). In this case, reinforcement is for shrinkage/temperature cracks control.
2 - If your actions will cause the slab to crack, then u need to reinforce your slab using 2 layers of reinforcement to handle the flexural stresses (Type F according to ACI360R). In this case, joint spacing is not that critical.
