How to increase compatibility of CAD geometry imported into ANSYS MECHANICAL APDL

How to increase compatibility of CAD geometry imported into ANSYS MECHANICAL APDL

(OP)
Hi,

I am designing a multi-solid CAD model in INVENTOR and I am trying to import it to ANSYS MECHANICAL APDL for FEA. I tried to import it in .x_t, .sat, .IGS. Nothing works. The best I can get is a good geometry in the .sat format, but ANSYS quickly crashes if I try to do something to the part. I would like to know if there are some tips to increase compatibility between INVENTOR and ANSYS MECHANICAL APDL. Both actions to take in INVENTOR, ANSYS, and outside those two softwares are appreciated.

Best regards,
HMALFS

RE: How to increase compatibility of CAD geometry imported into ANSYS MECHANICAL APDL

I know that in solidworks it is possible to directly export solid works model to ansys workbench, I think there should be such a possiblity in inventor also. I have not encountered any problem in importing models from solidworks to ansys.
