Using WPS with PWHT for non PWHT part
Using WPS with PWHT for non PWHT part
(OP)
Dear experts,
We have 1 tank with P1 Group 2 material and thickness of shell plate is 14 mm.
As required by API 650 all shell nozzles (greater than 2") and shell manholes on these shell courses must be pre-assemblied and PWHT'd before erecting at site. We have WPS with PWHT for this case.
We also have other tank with P1 Group 1 material and thickness of shell plate is 16 mm. For this shell course PWHT is not required. Can I use the above WPS with PHWT for the second case ?
Your comments is highly appreciated.

Thanks for the response and suggestion.
So I will make long plate PQR with P1 Gr. 2 material. From this plate I will have 2 PQR coupons. 1 PQR will be stress relieved and the other one no stress relieved.
Than I will make 2 WPS i.e. 1 WPS with PWHT and 1 without PWHT.
Because both of tanks are using P1 material so I do not need to make 1 PQR with P1 Gr. 2 and 1 PQR with P1 Gr. 1.
Is this correct ?

Impact test is not required.

P1 Grp 1 to P1 Grp 2 would only be beneficial if impact testing was required.
You will only need to write one WPS, qualified with and without PWHT. Attach both PQRs to the new WPS.
