ASME Sect IV use of Stainless Flanges

ASME Sect IV use of Stainless Flanges

ASME Sect IV use of Stainless Flanges

(OP)
Does ASME Sect IV allow the use of Stainless Steel Flanges on a carbon steel hot water heater?

Or is there a code case available for use?

Using the tables HF-200 and HLW-300 the stainless material isn't listed but we have been using it for years, today someone mentioned it not being listed in the tables and therefore you can't use it.

ANy help would be great!

RE: ASME Sect IV use of Stainless Flanges

Why would You weld stailess steel flanges to a cs header?

RE: ASME Sect IV use of Stainless Flanges

AS far as I know there is no prohibition. but check the Code again. I will check again because we make HWB out of stainless.
ok. you are not looking well, buy the B16 Flanges standard from ASME and be surprised that you will find and match the materials to section IV. regards.
