NX10 FEM 2D mesh problem, stitching surface to surface?

NX10 FEM 2D mesh problem, stitching surface to surface?

(OP)
Hi,

So in my thesis work I am making a FEA of a sheet metal part. The part includes some "sandwich" constructions, which means two sheets of metal with a waved sheet of metal between.

Since the different sheet metal components are thin, 0.5-3 mm I choose to use 2D mesh. Before making the mesh I use the midsurface commando, this results in gaps. These gaps are easy to handle where there is a edge, but where two surfaces need to be connected I am a bit clueless. I have tried the "sew" commando which did give good results on the thinner components.

I have attached two pictures for better explanation.

Hopefully you can understand the question.

Br,
Oscar

RE: NX10 FEM 2D mesh problem, stitching surface to surface?

hi,

You define surface-to-surface gluing regions by creating face pairs(Using distance tolerance). You can define face pairs for surface-to-surface gluing automatically or manually.(In SIM file).

Thanks,
Mathi K
