Euler's Beam theory
Euler's Beam theory
(OP)
Does that SAP2000 provide any options for the beam formulation: 1) Euler beam theory and 2) Timoshenko beam theory?

RE: Euler's Beam theory
From the manual:
"Biaxial bending, torsion, axial deformation, and biaxial shear are all accounted for in the beam-column formulation (Bathe and Wilson, 1976) which characterizes frame behavior."
What sap uses is in this book:
Bathe, K.J. and E. L. Wilson, 1976. Numerical Methods in Finite Element Analysis, Prentice-Hall, Englewood Cliffs, N.J.
RE: Euler's Beam theory
I reckon if the property modifiers for shear are set to zero, we might ignore the shear deformation.
For shell definitions, it's easy to include/exclude shear deformation by using two different theories.
