Zinc Sulfate Solution Purification

Zinc Sulfate Solution Purification

Zinc Sulfate Solution Purification

(OP)
Hi,

I have a few questions regarding the purification of zinc sulfate solution (hydro metallurgy):

In our plant we use a two stage process to eliminate impurities from zinc sulfate solution.

1- Cobalt and manganese purification: We use potassium permanganate at 80 Celsius and PH 4.5. We cannot use arsenic gas due
to the regulations. Is there any cheaper economic way of eliminating cobalt and manganese other than permanganate and arsenic gas?

2- Cadmium and nickel purification: We use zinc dust. This method is very unstable and zinc dust fails to eliminate nickel and cadmium
when there are inorganic material such as oil leakage.... and when retention time is too much cadmium ions go back to the solution.
Is there any alternative to zinc dust?

Thanks.
