Stockpile Loads

Stockpile Loads

Stockpile Loads

(OP)
Hi Guys,

we have a coal stockpile which 'gravity feeds' an apron feeder (there are no vibrations, the coal just falls down into the apron).

we're looking at increasing the stockpile ehight.

can anyone help with derivation of vertical loads for the feeder?

can i just multiply the feeder area by the new stockpile height? it seems ULTRA conservative.

Any help or pointers in the correct direction would be great.

regards,

Joe

RE: Stockpile Loads

Covered coal, or open (snow and ice loading?) hopper? (Those loads will be greater than the volume of snow on top of the coal, since the water soaks and freezes beside and between lumps of coal before freezing/after melting.)
What is the usual angle of repose (slope) of the usual coal you get delivered?
Weight is proportional to volume of the added height and density of the extra volume, NOT height alone.

RE: Stockpile Loads

The personnel that selected the apron feeders may be able to provide you this information [as it would be required to select the apron feeders].
If this is not forthcoming, the following may be of interest as a start:
