FRAMING QUESTION
FRAMING QUESTION
(OP)
I have a situation where there are two 4x6 post both 8'-0" long. The posts are spaced 8'-0" center to center. I have a 2x4 member below a window at 3'-0". There are two 2x4 members framed diagonally from the post to the center of the window and braced by another 2x4 in the middle. the diagonal 2x4 members have a 820 lbs force acting axially on them what connection should i use to connect these members so the load is properly transferred?
I analyzed this upside down so it would be like a frame.

RE: FRAMING QUESTION
1) Field applied metal plate connected wood truss plates.
2) Plywood glued and screwed on both sides.
3) Some of the joints might work with coil strap.
4) Forget the diagonals and use sheathing instead to create a shear panel. You'd still need something like a coil strap at C,D,E, and F.

Tough to know without running the numbers. I suspect that cross grain splitting / edge distances might cause you some trouble.
