Using RYDLYME Descaler for SA-213 T91 tubes

Using RYDLYME Descaler for SA-213 T91 tubes

(OP)
Dear All,

We are planning to use Rydlyme Descaler as a way of removing internal surface rust of tubes, but we want to know if this Rydlyme solution will not make a negative effect on the tubes. Our tubes are made from SA-213 T91. Does the rydlyme solution will not react to the chromium content of the tubes?

RE: Using RYDLYME Descaler for SA-213 T91 tubes

Flow the instruction as to concentration, time, and temperature.
This product has been shown to do less damage to tubing than other scale removal methods.

It means that there's a tendency that it will harm the tubes if the instruction is not executed correctly?

RE: Using RYDLYME Descaler for SA-213 T91 tubes

Have you evaluated the contents of the scale to determine if mechanical versus chemical cleaning is an option??? I would do this before choosing any chemical descaler. Also, this could become hazardous waste after chemical cleaning because of the possible chromium removed in solution. Proceed with caution on this.

RE: Using RYDLYME Descaler for SA-213 T91 tubes

Any descaling method (chemical or mechanical) can harm the tubes if done incorrectly.
Have you run a sample test on the scale to assure that this product will remove it?
Like Metengr said, evaluate your options.
High pressure blasting could be an option.
For chemical descaling to work you have to be circulating the solution and maintaining the correct temperature. Do you have a way to do this?
And make sure that your environmental guys are involved. I have seen cases where trace elements in the scale made the cleaning solution hazardous (Th).

We have prepared a derusting procedure which includes circulating the chemical for a couple of hours and drained the derusting agent to a sewer and flush with water. Actually, these tubes suffer rusted interior surface which are stored in our warehouse, and we would like to remove the rust before fabricating a tube bundle. Our main concern is to know if there is any adverse reaction when used in Chromalloy steel tubes.

Why use this product just to de-rust?
