Subsea rock anchoring

Subsea rock anchoring

Subsea rock anchoring

(OP)
Dear all

I´m currently working on the design of a subsea apparatus which should be able to I) drill a hole of about 50 - 60 mm (diameter) in granite, II) place an anchor (a T-bolt or a rock bolt (mechanical or friction type)) and, III) fixate the anchor (by for example grouting or by fixating the mechanical rock bolt). This all has to be performed at a water depth of maximum 100 meters without the need of a diver. The maximum load on the anchor is 40 tons. I prefer to not use grouting or epoxy as this complicated the device.

Although I have knowledge on subsea hardware engineering, I do not have knowledge on: A) hard rock drilling (equipment) and B) (hard rock) anchoring. Therefore I am looking for people, companies, knowledge and or technology that could be useful. Can someone give some suggestions as where to look?
Thank you very much,
Peter

RE: Subsea rock anchoring

Ingersoll Rand used to make pneumatic drills for installing rock bolts in tunnels. I would contact them. You could also go to hydraulics.
You may also consider the need to make an apparatus that can tension test (proof test) the anchors as well.
Dwidag (Dowydag?) makes anchor rods for this purpose and may be a source of info.
