PCC 1 appendix D

PCC 1 appendix D

PCC 1 appendix D

(OP)
Hello sir.

I am writing in reference at the Interpretation of the terminology in PCC 1 appendix D

I am reading the terminology W/2 this W mean the width of the seal area in Radial direction. but what about the "width of the indications in the circumferential way" this is not a important value to take care...

I have a scattered pitting. The Ri have the 45 % of the Radial length of the seal surface area. (W).

But have more the 5 inch "width" on the circumferential of the flange face. this not need be considered?

My client is taking this in consideration assuming the Width mentioned is for this circumferential dimension.

example

Pipe flange diameter = 66 inch
Rise Face pipe width 3.5 inch
Seal area width 1 inch
Rdi (3/8 inch)
d = 1/8 inch
Rdi = 3/32
rd = 15/32
Maximum depth found = 0.0005 inchs

Conclusion

width depth
W/2 < rd <0.005

Acceptable according PCC 1

But: the extension of the pitting on the flange circumference is the 7 inch. I can not find in the PCC 1 it to be evaluate how defect.

Could yours please let me know is this circumferential indication need be considerate or not.

Regards

RE: PCC 1 appendix D

They are 2 separate measurements, Surface Flatness and Defect Depth.

The title of Appendix D is "Guidelines for Allowable Gasket Contact Surface Flatness and Defect Depth.
