Importing and modifying foreign part

Importing and modifying foreign part

Importing and modifying foreign part

(OP)
Hello all,

I am currently trying to modify a part supplied by our manufacturer.

I need to remove the slots in the front of the part, before I can make my own modifications. I have tried a few ways including synchronous modelling and also surfacing which 'seems' to be where I'm having the most luck.

I realise that a have to close/sew a surface for it to auto turn into a solid but I can't seem to think of a way to close the surface I'm working with. I also know that my surfaces must be as accurate as possible and I have also tried to do this.

I am most likely going about this the difficult way and if there is an easier option please let me know (as well as helping with my current prediciment - Id like to learn how to fix the problem).

I have attached the .prt

Thank you for your help in advance.
