Ribbed Structural Nails v.s. Glue coated Nails

Ribbed Structural Nails v.s. Glue coated Nails

Ribbed Structural Nails v.s. Glue coated Nails

(OP)
I was just wondering what the difference is between the two. Are there significant withdrawal loads each can withstand? I have a set of plans which calls out that "ribbed structural nails, not glue coated shall be used." is there a standard or code that reinforces this statement? I also want to know if a ribbed structural nail is glue coated wouldn't that create a stronger connection?

RE: Ribbed Structural Nails v.s. Glue coated Nails

I'm used to hearing about "ring shanked" or barbed nails.
Bostitch claims normal ring shanked nails have ~ 10% greater than smooth shanked nails.
