Looking for Threaded Fastener

Looking for Threaded Fastener

(OP)
Hi all,

I've been searching for an externally threaded fastener for a couple of weeks now. I need it to conduct some proof load tests. The thread must be M6 x 1, strength class 12.9, and thread tolerance 6g. In addition it would be helpful if the shank was longer than 70mm. Any head type works as long as it can be loosened a half turn with some sort of tool and then removed by fingers.

I originally looked for hex head bolts, I successfully found some that met the standards only they were not made in greater than 30mm lengths. I next checked Socket cap screws. The problem is that the majority of socket cap screws that are strength class 12.9 follow DIN 912 standards. DIN 912 standards have thread tolerances of 6g for every strength class up to 12.9 but not 12.9. The DIN 912 strength class 12.9 bolts have a thread tolerance of 5g6g.

Does anyone know of a standard that requires both 12.9 strength and 6g thread tolerance?

For reference I have searched Fastenal, McMaster Carr, Misumi, DrillSpot, and several other hardware stores.

Help would be greatly appreciated!

RE: Looking for Threaded Fastener

Why is the tighter thread tolerance a problem?

I would try Maryland Metrics, Bossard and Würth.

RE: Looking for Threaded Fastener

If a thread meets a 5g6g tolerance class, then it will meet a 6g tolerance class. See ISO 965-1 for details. Basically, the only difference is the pitch diameter tolerance: for M6 X 1 - 6g the limits are 5.324 mm to 5.212 mm, while for M6 x 1 - 5g6g they are 5.324 mm to 5.234 mm.

Thank you for the clarification. I'll check those websites and if I can't find anything I'll buy 5g6g tolerance bolts.
