Slab influence on beam (rib, T-Beam)

Slab influence on beam (rib, T-Beam)

(OP)
Hello. It is possible in Etabs to model a beam as a rib or T-beam(not reffering to the ribbed slab) in such a way to consider the influnce of the slab. This will make an axial effort to appear in beam and finally will increase the bending moment. There are special functions for this in Scia and in AxisVm, but i can not find them in Etabs. Thx

RE: Slab influence on beam (rib, T-Beam)

According to my understanding, your may try the following in ETABS:

1. Model the slab and beam as you do normally. Use rectangular beam. Run and analyze your model.
2. Save the model with a different name.
3. In the second model, change the beam connectivity to 'Top center'. Run & analyze.
4. Compare the results of two models, to see the difference.
