Intersection cloud point and surface

Intersection cloud point and surface

Intersection cloud point and surface

(OP)
Hello everybody

I'm working on CATIA V5 and i'm facing a complex issue :

My problem is the following:

I have a cloud of points (extracted from a .asc file) and a 2D surface (extracted from QSR) and i need to get the points from the cloud which are also in the surface.

I've tried to use an intersection but it can't work.
Considering the format of the files (cloud and surface) i am not sure that this problem is solvable ...

Does anyone has an idea ?

Regards

KS

RE: Intersection cloud point and surface

My guess is that the points are not exactly on the surface. Can you isolate the ones that are near and project them onto the surface normal to the surface? If you could create a simplified dummy model we may be able to help more.

RE: Intersection cloud point and surface

before you isolate the full cloud, you should filter it to get only points close to surface
then you use function "Could / Points" to turn cloud in 3d points
then you project points on surface

You an also have KWE rule that will check distance points/surface and show only point within tolerance if you have license.
