Hello community,

I am trying to simulate a simple 2D example of orthogonal cutting as shown in the pic below:



However, the problem I face is that of the interaction definition.

It is a 2D simulation, so I cannot use the general contact algorithm.
So I use the surface-to-surface algorithm with the front side of the tool as master surface and the mesh of the tool (both interior and exterior) as the slave surface.

When I submit the job, I get the following error:
'1 improperly defined surface(s). Please check your surface definitions. Make sure that all surface normals point outward.

Anyone has any ideas? Has anyone encountered this problem again in a 2D analysis?

In 2D, the workpiece surface should be a node based surface. That would allow contact between the internal elements and the tool surface.
