Problems about the thickness of shell element

Problems about the thickness of shell element

(OP)
Hello everyone,

I have a problem in defining the thickness of the shell element when I am using the axisymmetric shell elements (SAX1) to do my simulations. When I specified the thickness value for the shell element to be 0.4 and 1.2, respectively, my model was able to complete; however, when I specified the thickness value as 0.8, my model just did not work and it was showed in the monitor that "The elements contained in element set have distorted excessively".

The value of 0.8 is within the range from 0.4 to 1.2. I got so confused that why the thickness of 0.8 dose not work while the thickness of 0.4 and the thickness of 1.2 do work. Anyone could provide any help? Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Penny
