Problem in Importing part in SolidWorks 2014 Drawing Template

(OP)
Hi All
I have designed a new Template for my Solidworks2014 Drawing, When I import my old drawings that are in another template, and want to open them in my new template, it only opens the empty
Template, and does not import the part , so I have to open the old one and copy all into the new Template, is there a better solution ?

RE: Problem in Importing part in SolidWorks 2014 Drawing Template

Can you not just open in the old template, right click, properties and then change the template?

SW is not like Pro-E. Pro-E you could update the drawing template and the Pro-E drawing template would update when it was opened again. Its not like that in SW. You have to force the new data into the file, otherwise it will stay the same

If the New Template is of the same name and is in the same location, you can open an old drawing, RMB and select "Properties". Then select "Reload" and it will load the new drawing template. I do this often, because since we are a small company the drawing template is always changing some how. It easier to simply reload then to change it out.
