Removing "Reference Not Found" Material links

Removing "Reference Not Found" Material links

Removing "Reference Not Found" Material links

(OP)
Hey Guys,
I've got a Catia V5 R23 dataset from a customer that I am modifying. When I go to edit -> links on the top level I see a whole bunch of broken material links with status "reference not found". There are about 20 items on the list with this error from two different assemblies, listed under "pointed document". These assemblies are several assembly levels down and should not have any links directly to the top level. In "Desk" there are links from the top level to the offending subassemblies as well (presumably from these material links).

The problem is that there are no materials under the parts listed when I drill down to them. I've run CATDUA on numerous assembly levels. I've tried adding materials to the "pointed document" and then copying it to the part with paste special "material link" then deleting them per this suggestion with no luck:
https://espace.cern.ch/cad-service/faq/Assembly%20...

And to make matters worse, there are multiple entries showing the same instance of the offending part under "from element" with the same "pointed document".

I can only assume these are contextual links but I've looked at every level to find where they were applied and can't find anything. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm pulling my hair out.

Thanks,

RE: Removing "Reference Not Found" Material links

why don't you contact your customer and ask them if this is normal and how to work with this?

RE: Removing "Reference Not Found" Material links

If memory serves me correctly, this type of link creation scenario is generally related to the application of a 'Material with Link' at the Instance level of a CATPart in the assembly instead of directly to the Root Level inside the CATPart or direct application to a PartBody.

The methodology for removing these links would be very similar to that described in the FAQ article.
