Helix wont work in 3d sketch

Helix wont work in 3d sketch

Helix wont work in 3d sketch

(OP)
I am trying to draw an assembly which includes a knot drawing procedure using rope, I tried using 3d sketch to create a helix but does not seem to create along a 3d curved sketch using the sweep option

RE: Helix wont work in 3d sketch

I'm pretty sure it only sweeps along a straight vector. Even if you pick a curved axis it just uses the first straight vector you pick.

Why is the twist area turned off? if it would only twist I could get the rope effect im looking for

RE: Helix wont work in 3d sketch

I'm not sure what you mean. Could you attach a screen shot?

RE: Helix wont work in 3d sketch

Start your sweep feature with no twist. Then edit the properties and you will see that the 'twist' option will be available.

RE: Helix wont work in 3d sketch

What command is this? I don't see "twist" available in sweep.

RE: Helix wont work in 3d sketch

Oh well, thanks for the non-responsiveness. Could be one reason why this forum is dead.

RE: Helix wont work in 3d sketch

Nevermind. I see twist now. Not sure why I didn't before.
