Issue of welding to ASME code steel

Issue of welding to ASME code steel

Issue of welding to ASME code steel

(OP)
I am a project engineer for anon code shop. Right now I have an issue with a ASME code steel and hope that I could get an answer in here. When working withe shop technician on the steel. We found out that there is a tiny spot that on a 12 inches ID spool section. Both us think it is just a tiny spot so we weld the spool section and realize that it is the ASME code spool so as a non code shop we can not weld on the spool. So we wonder how can we fix our issue. Do we need to get an expert and approve for us. Can any engineer give me the answer

RE: Issue of welding to ASME code steel

So, you have welded on ASME Code material with no ASME Certificate. Yes, this is an issue because you have an unauthorized weld repair. To fix it, you must remove the weld you applied, and NDT to ensure no cracks in the base material. Beyond this, you can do nothing to this pipe section.
