Circular post tensioned tanks - joint detailing experiences between wall and base slab?

Circular post tensioned tanks - joint detailing experiences between wall and base slab?

(OP)
Dear engtips. I am designing circular waste water tanks to northern europe (86m diameter and 5m high, 0,3m thick walls). Baseslab and circular walls will be prestressed with post tensioned grouted tendons. Lowest ambient temperature is -40deg, temperature of the liquid is +45deg, installation temperature +10deg.

Problem I am having is the detailing between the slab and wall.

In order to obtain good reisidual compressive stress in the wall, bottom of the wall should be allowed to slide during prestressing and hinged/fixed in final condition.

Does anyone have experiences from designing a sliding wall joint? How do you make sure that it is connection watertight when considering temperature (& other) effects in cold climate?

And does anyone have experiences from designing a fixed wall joint for circular prestressed tank? How do you fulfill the decompression requirement for grouted tendons in the lower part of the wall?

I would be glad to hear your comments and experiences. Br JH

Go to one of the Tank Prestressing websites. Several of them have example details.
