Has anyone used this product in your foundation design? Specifically, in the spread footings. Is it allowed per IBC and can it replace 100% of the required rebar?

Thanks and have a great day.

RE: Helix micro-rebar

Looks like a macro steel fiber that they're using for reinforcement. I've never heard of this one but all the research I've seen about replacing rebar with macro fibers is you need huge dose rates that will make the concrete contractor hate you for all eternity. Essentially go with rebar and avoid the fibers, fibers are only good if you need improved durability, crack control, or freeze-thaw resistance.

RE: Helix micro-rebar

TME is correct. This is just another manufacturer's take on steel fiber enhancement. IT IS NOT REINFORCEMENT!! It is an enhancement to a concrete mix that increases some of its properties. That's all. You can twist it, hook the ends, make it shorter, make it longer, make it stiffer, make it malleable....they've all been tried.....with the same results. Don't replace rebar.
