Hi all,
Apologies for this general forum question... I've searched the FAQs and elsewhere on Eng-Tips and can't find any information.

Does the "subscribe to forum" functionality, accessed from the top RH corner "Forums" tab --> "Subscribe to Forums" not work? I've tried it multiple times without any confirmation that it's actually doing anything.
I was hoping to subscribe and receive an automated email for each new thread in this forum.

Thanks,
Ewan

RE: Subscribe to forum functionality

I think subscription adds them to the threadminder on the left side of the screen. I don't know if there's a way to get e-mail notifications for entire forums, but there is a button for threads.

RE: Subscribe to forum functionality

No way to get email notification of activity on a forum that I'm aware of or that management could tell me of.

As 3D Dave says subscribing to forum just adds it to your thread minder I believe.

there are tools for indicating in the thread minder where activity has occurred.

RE: Subscribe to forum functionality

Upper-right corner.

There's a box titled "Notify Me" with the text included, that says, on this page:
"Who's Marked This Thread?
ewans
Click here to mark this thread for e-mail notification."

It works. I get emails whenever new posts show up in threads I've hit the button on.

RE: Subscribe to forum functionality

You will also need E-mail client that notifies you of new E-mails. It may not be the case if you are using simple web-mail service, like free Yahoo!

Thanks to all for the replies... appreciated.

JNieman,
Thanks... however, what I was looking for was functionality that sends an email notification when a new thread is posted to the forum, not when a new reply is posted to a thread.

Cheers,
Ewan
