precision screw threads
precision screw threads
(OP)
Hello,
Anyone with experience (or opinion )with a high temperature resin used to mold precision screw threads? Looking for good lubricity, and low galling.
3/8-32 threads, used for positioning a very light load (*low* thread stresses)
operates at room temperature (35F-100F)
dimensionally stable after up to 100 autoclave cycles (121C, 100 saturation)
good wear resistance
We use ultem 1000 for many static parts here, but wondering if there is a better (cost effective) contender for sliding properties.
thanks

Mating material?
Consider also a coarser differential screw.

Ideally both male and female. Although if a smooth, low stiction feel can not be created, the female thread will be an insert (brass).
the pitch is required due to a specific travel requirement, while the diameter needs to be minimized due to space req.s
Polymer threads because of weight and cost considerations.
I am also considering vapor deposition coatings, but have not given this much thought yet
