Running VPN or Remote Desktop
Running VPN or Remote Desktop
(OP)
Looking for support to run Risa3D v13 from home/road with standalone licence. Dongle is at work. I see a little bit of langauge in the setup with regard to remote desktop, and also the network.ini file, but unable to get those to work.
Regardnig remote desktop, I see instruction that remote desktop is not supported pre Risa3d version 12.0. I'm confused what Risa is defining as remote desktop. I have used several remote desktop managers over the years, and can't see how remote desktop and risa 3d have anything to do with each other. As I understand and experience weekly with remote desktop, I simply run a remote computer as though I were present, however with speeds as though I were in another galaxy (some of time). With this method, I've used Risa3D version 7.1 for many years this way, but it's less effecient of course than using the software locally.
Just for info, I've got static ip's on all my machines, and certainly could set a port forwarding at the office.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,

RE: Running VPN or Remote Desktop
As an application, we've had to add in special code to allow this behavior. That was done with version 13.0. So, if you're running that version you shouldn't have any problems.
Prior versions are not supposed to work with Remote Desktop. Though it depends on the type of remote access software you are using and how you use it. There were ways to make it work.
