Tongue and Groove Decking as a Diaphragm

Tongue and Groove Decking as a Diaphragm

I am looking for a reference (if there is one) that tabulates tongue and groove decking diaphragm shear strength. The 2x6 tongue and groove will sit on top of the framing with both underside of deck and the framing itself exposed. I hate to add plywood/OSB on top, but I may have to. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks - I looked through that book, and I don't see anything addressing roof diaphragm shear strength. Maybe I'm just missing it? I noticed that there are supplements. Is it in one of those?

Do a search here at Eng-Tips - I seem to recall several threads about this topic and one of them had a resource for shear values of T&G deck (without plywood overlay).

RE: Tongue and Groove Decking as a Diaphragm

ANSI/AF&PA SDPWS-2008 has horizontal lumber sheathing shear strength in Table 4.2D as 100plf for seismic and 140 plf for wind.

I'm not sure if you're looking for some increase for T&G because they're interlocked? Never heard.

Thanks Jerehmy. I have never noticed that table...never had a reason to look for it either though.
