How to make end loops on a helical tension spring

How to make end loops on a helical tension spring

(OP)
Hello,
I know how to make a helical spring with a helix, and then a rib of certain cross section along the helix, but I have a hard time making the end loops. I tried projecting on a plane, but the helix end disappears, and becomes a full circle. The I can put in a corner of the desired radius, but it does not allow a trim. What is the best way to do this

RE: How to make end loops on a helical tension spring

here's what I do:

1. shorten the helix to leave a gap about equal to the radius
2. shorten the line to leave a similar gap
3. add the radius with a Connect curve
4. Join the helix, connect, and line into a single curve (spring centerline)
5. Sweep a constant radius surface through the centerline
6. use CloseSurface to convert the surface into a solid
