Geogrid lengths for MSE walls

Geogrid lengths for MSE walls

Geogrid lengths for MSE walls

(OP)
Asking for rules of thumb...

If I've got a MSE wall that's laid in at a 1:1 batter (each successive 18 inch high box is set 18 inches back from the last one to create an effective 1:1 slope), is there any reason that the geogrid length for that wall would need to be longer than the height of the wall? Talking wall heights 15 ft or less here, and nothing special about the soils.

RE: Geogrid lengths for MSE walls

Typically, a general rule of thumb would be having the geogrids extending a minimum 0.7 to 0.8 x the wall height (with 3 m minimum).

There is a British Codee of Practice - BS 8006. Fig 1 shows that this is "constant" up the sloped face. Table 19 gives minimum lengths for various cases: "Dimension of walls and abutments".
