Can you please help with this problem in Abaqus ?

Can you please help with this problem in Abaqus ?

Hello !

I am currently doing a simulation of a 2D hollow cylinder (plane-strain assumption) falling on to the ground with a initial velocity of 5m/s from a height of 2m and allowing it to keep bouncing until it comes to rest. I carried out this simulation and obtained the graph (shown in attachment 1) and again i restarted with a new step to obtain the next graph (shown in attachment 2).

Problem:

I want to join the two graphs (meaning the end point of the first graph should be the start point of the second graph). I tried by first creating the XY datas as shown in the pictures above. Then i tried TOOLS -->XY Data--->CREATE----> OPERATE ON XY DATA ----> OPERATOR : append ((X,X....)) and I managed to get a graph (shown in attachment 3) with an expression---> append (("XYData-1", "XY Data-2")) as shown below:

But as stated before I want the end point of graph 1 to be the start point of graph 2. I am not able to figure out a right expression for it. So please help me to fix this problem. Any help in this regard is appreciable.

Thank you.

RE: Can you please help with this problem in Abaqus ?

I think that won't work. Append just creates one curve out of two without manipulating the data. So if you mark both and plot them and it looks good, then append could make the same and it is really one dataset.

Open the XY data manager and use Edit to look at the data. You'll see, that both data have a time from 0 to 1. Your second graph needs a step time from 1 to 2.
So open that graph with Edit, copy the data to Excel, add a 1 to the whole time row and bring it back to CAE. Then it should work.
