MCCB in place of a disconnector

MCCB in place of a disconnector

MCCB in place of a disconnector

(OP)
Dear All,

Sometimes when I go to the field, I find that sometimes they have installed MCCB in place of a disconnector to the supply side of a three phase machine.
Is it a safe practice or they should install disconnector there and I should point it out as a safety violation ??

RE: MCCB in place of a disconnector

Does the MCCB meet the requirements for a disconnector? Many are dual certified to IEC 60947 as meeting the requirements for both circuit breakers and disconnectors.
