Dear friends ;

I have an ASTM D86 distillation data for a JET A-1 STREAM from the laboratory
the data contains :

initial boiling point (°C)
10% DISTILLATION TEMPERATURE (°C)
20% DISTILLATION TEMPERATURE (°C)
50% DISTILLATION TEMPERATURE (°C)
90 % DISTILLATION TEMPERATURE (°C)
End point (°C)
Residue ( %V)
Loss ( %V)
My questions are below :

1) Does initial boiling point means at 0% cut point ?
2) Does initial boiling point means at 100% cut point ?
3) Does the Residue ( %V) and Loss ( %V) should be inputted in the oil manager , if yes where to input them exactly?

Im wondering if anyone could guide me please ?

The residue can be anything (in terms of chemical composition and properties), hence it does not come into play in the stream characterization procedure. The same applies for losses.

As for the IBP/FBP, you can use the values such as 1% for IBP and 98% for FBP. There is no significant difference if one would use 0.1% and 100% for IBP and FBP, respectively. You can do both and see the differences yourself.

I would like to add that the laboratory data contains also :

total sulfur (%mass )
Mercaptan sulfur (%mass )


then : Should I add them as pure components ?

TOTAL SULFUR is S-Amorphous OR S-RHOMBIC on hysys ?

and for Mercaptan sulfur :there are M-MARCAPTON AND E-MARCAPTON ( how to split the mass fraction between the two compond ?)

If you know Sulfur distribution in all crude cuts (from the Crude assay), then it makes sense to enter this information in Hysys. Using total Sulfur really adds no value, because the simulator does not know (and really cannot know) which species are present and how they are distributed between cuts/fractions. So the bottom line is - unless you have this information and you need Sulfure distribution results from the simulator, I would avoid guessing.
