(OP)
How are most of you in the utilities industry detecting vegetation encroachment on your transmission lines? Are you using satellite imagery? LiDAR surveys? People in trucks?? How often do you do it - per NERC standards or more/less often? Im also curious if those of you in subtropical climates are handling this differently from those of you in evergreen/pine regions.

Thanks,
KK

RE: vegetation management, NERC

I can't recommend or otherwise as I wasn't involved in it, but a former employer of mine (a utility) developed a system for such things that was eventually bought out by Fugro. Given the utility's area of coverage that they needed to manage, I'm of the understanding that it was quite impressive and a cost saver for what they gained from it.

http://www.fugroroames.com/about-us/ is the link to Fugro, who now run the system. The platform they developed was known as ROAMES.
