maximum length between draw pits
maximum length between draw pits
(OP)
What is the maximum length that is usually adopted between draw pit so you can physically and easily pull the cables through the ducts without causing damage.
I’m not sure if this the most appropriate forum to ask ,my Q is about cabling for instrumentation and power control of an actuated Penstocks.

RE: maximum length between draw pits
Check maximum tension which can be applied to the various cable types(given in cable manufacturer's data sheet) in question, hold this up to any data for any pulling winches etc. Also the use of middle "pushers" on the cable will assist the installation.
Notwithstanding the above, geographical and practical location, with regard to physically doing the job, of pits will often dictate distance.
RE: maximum length between draw pits
That is a good question, and not easy to summarize. Considerable experience had been devoted to [at least] three aspects.
Installation-equipment manufacturers like Greenlee Tool have application literature and consulting on use of their related cable-handling products.
Cable-lubricant manufacturers like American Polywater have literature and software for use with their materials that ultimately affect practical dimensions.
Consulting-engineering firms have developed construction-process text to outline competent procedures for cable handling and layout.
Cable producers like Kerite and Okonite have literature and various recommendations on tension limits with respect to pull length that effect the life cycle of their products.
