FBC 2014: public shelter design criteria

FBC 2014: public shelter design criteria

(OP)
I am looking for a Window protection system for an existing school building in Florida, as per FBC 2014, 453.25.4 (public shelter design criteria). Does anybody know if there are shutters or screens that would satisfy not only the wind pressure and impact loading criteria, but also the cyclic loading criteria. I can't find anything on the Miami-Dade website. So- is replacement of the existing windows the only option?

RE: FBC 2014: public shelter design criteria

Just Google "roll up security shutters". Some are hurricane rated.

As Mike said..."Google"

Here's one that likely meets your requirements and has Florida Product Approval (which is necessary!)

Roll-a-Way Shutters
