Constraints lost, but no failure, flag, or error

Constraints lost, but no failure, flag, or error

Constraints lost, but no failure, flag, or error

(OP)
Does anyone have any recommendations regarding this below. Using NX 9
When I change a parent feature that is referenced by a following feature you would think that if an edge or other entity is deleted, changed, or replaced the following dependent feature would fail, error out, or as least flag.
But as shown here below the lower feature is dependent on the first feature though the first feature has been changed and the following dependent feature shows Up To Date with the green check mark.

When I go into the sketch of the dependent feature I find the first two listed constraints with a "!" next to them flagging them as having an issue, which is this case the edges they referenced are no longer in existence, but I would have never known this unless I went to edit the sketch of that feature. There was no flag or error display to notify me of this issue.

Is there a setting I'm missing?
Thanks!

RE: Constraints lost, but no failure, flag, or error

I'd be looking for the Sketch to have this warning/message, not the Extrude. The Extrude isn't failing, but the Geometric Constraints of the Sketch are no longer fully constrained. The Extrude can still be created without the Geometric Constraint needed to fully solve the Sketch. Basically, just because a Sketch isn't fully constrained doesn't mean you can't use it for an Extrude.

Hope that makes sense.

Yeah that does makes sense.
In this case the sketch is internal to the extrude so that's hiding the missing reference flag.
It looks like the Check Mate "Sketch Fully Constrained" will catch it when it's inside the extrude.

Thanks!

RE: Constraints lost, but no failure, flag, or error

If internal Sketches are hiding flags/messages/warnings, I'd reconsider making Sketches internal to their child features. Maybe submit an ER requesting that the flags/messages/warnings carry over to the child features when Sketches are internal.
