Visio 2007 Calendar appoinments - why is shape sheet value showing a decimal for a date?

Visio 2007 Calendar appoinments - why is shape sheet value showing a decimal for a date?

Visio 2007 Calendar appoinments - why is shape sheet value showing a decimal for a date?

Hello!
Two questions regarding Visio 2007 shape sheet date and time formats

I was given a task of writing a Visio VBA script that will take a Monthly Calendar shape that
has many appointment shapes within, extract the appointment info, and send an Outlook email
to various people containing message populated with the appointment shape data.

I am confused as to the difference between what I see in the little Shape Data window and
what I see in the Shape sheet. Example: With a calendar appointment shape, the shape data
displays the start time, end time, and date exactly how I would like. The Shape sheet shows
me some odd decimal values of which I have no clue as to what they mean.

My questions are:
1. When trying to extract appointment shape start, end, and day values, do I try to code
in using Cells, CellsSRC, or something else?

2. Can you provide a hint as to how to extract shape data for an email message?

I have attached a PDF picture hopefully clarifying my delimma.
I believe if I can get past this hurdle I should be able to handle the rest of the task.
Thank you
Tom

RE: Visio 2007 Calendar appoinments - why is shape sheet value showing a decimal for a date?

Did someone change the name of the format? The default format is the Excel 24-hr time and date format. Your QA meeting date is 42256 days since Jan 1, 1901, and your time 0.3333333 is 1/3 of a 24-hr day, which should corresponds to 7:59 am, as shown in the shape, but it doesn't exactly, since 0.3333 correponds to 7:59.95, so there's something funny in your time input. 7:59 should be 0.3326

I suggest that you post in Tek-Tips.com, which is more oriented to this type of question.

I am not sure why but the monthly calendar defaulted to those values.

Thanks for the assistance.

I'm considering having manager start learning how to use MS Outlook for scheduling meetings
rather than starting from Visio ending into Outlook. Seems like a backwards task.

Thanks!
