Isolated ground and Surge Suppression Receptacles

Isolated ground and Surge Suppression Receptacles

(OP)
Hello,

I understand that standard receptacles are available in Isolated ground type, Surge Suppresion type, and Surge Supression with Isolated ground type, to protect senstive electronic equipment such as communications and monitoring equipment.

I wanted to inquire about the standard code approved practice to protect such electronic loads and if there is a signicant cost different in each type of receptacle and wiring, so one type is not an overkill as compared to the other.

I'd appreciate your inputs.

Thank you.
