Pattern Face versus Pattern Feature and list expression to duplicate number
Pattern Face versus Pattern Feature and list expression to duplicate number
(OP)
Hi,
A customer tried to create the following part

He used pattern feature than get a size of 219 Mo !!!

He said to me that with PRO/E the size is only 6 Mo
So He gave me the challenge and I succeed to reduce the size with pattern face => 13 Mo
To enhance the model I tried to use list expression to duplicate the number

The result is wrong

Any idea ?
Thanks in advance

RE: Pattern Face versus Pattern Feature and list expression to duplicate number
Sorry i am not able to figure out what exactly is causing this. But i guess you are using NX 8.5 .3.3 and i cannot replicate this case in NX 9.0.3 and NX10 (i have only these versions available with me as of now).
Attaching a JPEG herewith.

RE: Pattern Face versus Pattern Feature and list expression to duplicate number
I have also tested in NX9, NX10 even in NX11 without success
RE: Pattern Face versus Pattern Feature and list expression to duplicate number
Sorry i may have not understood your issue clearly... but i am attaching the part file herewith (NX9)
I have suppressed the Pattern feature you created and made a new one. Do let me know if it is ok.

It's not good, I would like 10, 11, 12...

RE: Pattern Face versus Pattern Feature and list expression to duplicate number
I think i now understand what are you trying to say... you have created this vertical line (using dimension nombre) and used a pattern increment for increasing it by an index of 1 every time it is patterned.
For the text you have taken ref from membre and a list variable Gravure... You want the TEXT content to reflect the list members one by one.
Sorry i have no idea how it can be done...i can think something from Knowledge Fusion but not an OOTB ...

Good to see an enhancement request for this.

Please see if this works for you. Attached is an 7z file with avi and the part file (NX9).

RE: Pattern Face versus Pattern Feature and list expression to duplicate number
Thanks a lot, Good Idea
It works but when we edit the pattern and increase the count some PMI disappear.
I will open a Problem Report

This might be helpful. this is NX 10 file.
Thanks
RE: Pattern Face versus Pattern Feature and list expression to duplicate number
Great job, but I am not an Excell expert: Could you explain the formula ?
=SI(REMPLACER(ugexpr("Autre");1;1;"")-COLONNE()>=0;9+COLONNE();"")
Just on problem: the border remain after edit

RE: Pattern Face versus Pattern Feature and list expression to duplicate number
Please see the attached file (Excel Formulas.pdf) contains some explanation about formula.
The NX10 file which I have attached previously working perfectly on my machine however when I try this on some other machine I also got the problem with border. So I am attaching NX 9 file which will solve the issue with border. Hope this helps.
Thanks

He's the product manager who's among other things manages Expressions.

If anybody can clarify the original question, it's Taylor.

RE: Pattern Face versus Pattern Feature and list expression to duplicate number
Relative to the model size challenge, this one is 3.8MB at 30m long, and 2.7MB at 15cm long.
In this model just change the "length_cm_integer" expression, and everything else comes along for the ride:
...or just change the "labels_text_size" expression to adjust the text height:
The number labels are done with a KF Child List Rule, which can be VERY dynamic because it can leverage the "child:index:" attribute, which is essentially an integer that increments with each instance of the array/list. Works quite well here.
Hope that helps.
I'll keep poking at a purely expression-based solution.

Thanks a lot, it's wonderfull
Two questions:
- I don't know KF: do we need a special license ? I have a MACH3 Indus Design
- Is it possible to developp same function with engraved text ?
Thanks in advance
