Equivalent pressure

Equivalent pressure

Equivalent pressure

(OP)
Hi,
Can any give me the formula used to determine the equivalent pressure , according to ASME, for Class 1 Flange Assembly , Category 3 flane With Spacer (metallic spacer).n other words can i replace pressure ,in equations of appendix Y and appendix 2 of ASME VIII div 1, by equivalent pressure ?? if yes what is the formula and where i can find it ??
Thank you in advance

RE: Equivalent pressure

Equivalent pressure is intended to substitute external forces and/or moments with an equivalent pressure. I that what you mean/intend?

TGS4,
Yes this is what i meant but how can i calculate it ???
where can i find it's formula in ASME code ??

RE: Equivalent pressure

The formula can be found in ASME Section II, Subsection NC, Paragraph NC-3658.1(b), although I personally prefer the form in NC-3441.9(a)(3)(-a).

Do you have access to these, or do you need to have the equations themselves provided here?

There are better ways of accounting for external forces and moments in your analysis, such as the Koves method (original - http://pressurevesseltech.asmedigitalcollection.as...) (most recent - http://pressurevesseltech.asmedigitalcollection.as...)
