get SW03 to force a new flat pattern, like 01+?

(OP)
In sw2001+, if a 'legacy' model was opened, and it already
had an 'old-style' flat pattern (not derived, and not auto-updatable), 01+ would still generate a newer, derived configuration and generate the new flat pattern there.

In '03, Im finding that the presence of an old style flat pattern view prevents this. It just links to the old flat pattern, which may well not represent the latest model changes.

I just exported hundreds of parts and came out with geometry
a year earlier than before the previous revision...

Is there a way I can force '03 to generate a new-style flat pattern?
